Joel Collins began his solar career in 2012, right at the height of the solar boom — a time when panel prices were finally becoming affordable for everyday homeowners, not just the ultra-wealthy. That shift opened the door to a new era of energy freedom, and Joel jumped in with both feet.
Starting from the bottom (or rather, the roof), he immersed himself in the trade. Learning every aspect of solar installation, hands-on, from the ground up. What started as a job quickly became a lifelong passion for renewable energy and helping others achieve energy independence.
Though Joel has spent the last 13 years in the business and keeping up with all the latest innovations, what’s kept him in the industry isn’t the tech — it’s the people.

Joel built Home Grown Energy on the belief that good, honest work can make a real difference. With energy prices on the rise and trust in both utilities and the solar industry slipping, he set out to do things differently — with transparency, accountability, and real customer care at the center of it all.
